Howdy!
Born and raised in the big and booming city of Calgary I always longed to be in the mountains or in the fields surrounding the city. As a Shell Conservation Intern, I’m now living that dream!
My journey here began with my acceptance into the Lethbridge Community College Watershed Management diploma program. Afterwards, I continued my education by enrolling in the Fish and Wildlife Technologies program, but then transferred to the University of Lethbridge and graduated with my B.Sc. majoring in Environmental Sciences. When I found out I was hired as a Shell Conservation Intern working out of Calgary, I was ecstatic! I could now live in the city I call home, and use all the skills I learned in school in the beautiful landscapes surrounding the city.

What a journey it has been so far! I’ve honed my use of GPS, improved on map reading and plant identification skills, and even begun learning song bird calls. I was also happy to discover that photography (always an interest of mine) is very important for monitoring, and I’ve been able to take many, many pictures over the summer. Every day I work alongside conservation-minded individuals, experience breath-taking views and meet incredible stewards of the environment. I know the contacts that I’ve made within NCC and Shell are invaluable and will help me with my career in conservation.
The very best part about this job is getting to see the Alberta landscape change and develop through the seasons -- something many of us take for granted and often miss out on.
