| Shell Conservation Intern Godwin Chan |
Hello,
My name is Godwin Chan and I am one of the Shell Conservation Interns in Manitoba working with the Nature Conservancy of Canada. I have lived in Winnipeg all my life but really enjoy travelling. I have had the chance of travelling to Hong Kong and Mainland China to see the contrasting landscapes and have come to realize how lucky we are to live in a country with such diverse and vast natural resources.
I just finished the 4th year of my degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Manitoba. Before graduating I decided to join the Co-op program to get some valuable work experience, which led me to this position with NCC as a Shell Conservation Intern. Although I know the job will be demanding, I feel that working as an intern with NCC will teach me the techniques and skills to be successful in any career.

This summer, my fellow Manitoba intern, Tracey, and I will be working in the region near Riding Mountain National Park and in Manitoba’s Tall Grass Prairie where we will be monitoring and creating baseline inventories on prairie and aspen parkland plant species. This will involve visiting numerous NCC-secured properties to find things such as disturbances or threats to an area. Throughout the summer, I'll be taking special interest in using technologies such as GIS and GPS as tools for our work. We are already enjoying our time working for the NCC and are excited for what's to come for the rest of the summer.
Best Regards,
Godwin Chan
